I've lost 1.2 lbs - I think. Apparently my scale was not on perfectly smooth flooring, and my numbers were a little wonky this week. But I'm going with the highest weight it showed today, to be on the safe side. I think I have it working now- or maybe I need a new scale.
But the good news is, I know I did good this week! And my clothes are still getting looser, etc. So that's what matters.
My weigh-in was not too exciting- I lost 0.2 lbs. I did not give it my best effort this week . . . let's just say my 'efforts' were spent elsewhere! But at least I'm still moving in the right direction, however slowly.
Total lost so far: 44.6 lbs
This week has had some real ups, and some real downs. Some of the ups:
*Trick or Treating. Which Brian still asks if we can do, EVERY night.
*Sledding. Which Clayton still wants to do, and tries to do, on our snow-free driveway.
*Clayton and Brian are doing so well in their preschool! It is awesome.
Some of the downs:
*Mommy has been sick with a sinus infection/sinus headache. Owie.
*Dory got a double ear infection on Monday. Double owie.
*Mommy has been up every night for the last 6 nights with sick kids, headaches, kids with night terrors, kids who decide they want to go trick-or-treating at midnight, etc. etc.
*Due to a busy day all day Monday, and our illnesses since, our house is a WRECK.
However- I have saved the best 'up' for last. Since Clayton has started preschool, he has made some really great improvements with his communication. The most significant one is that he is now IMITATING words!!!! Before, he would say a few words- when he felt like it. Not when prompted. Now he is acutally listening to another person, and responding appropriately!!! This is huge.
Here is a short, poorly-filmed video. It made my whole week.
We had a blast trick-or-treating tonight! Brian was perfect- he said 'Thank you' and 'Happy Halloween' to everyone. Clayton . . . had a learning experience. He wanted to go inside everybody's house, and he rang every doorbell as many times as possible (before Mommy could grab him). Anyway, we had a great time. Here are some pictures of us tonight, plus some cut-n-paste specials, compliments of Daddy.
Here are the kiddos, ready to go! Complete with Darth Vader treat buckets.A kind neighbor took a picture of all of us: And here is Obi Wan! Princess Leia laughs in the face of threats from the dark side! And our little Ewok . . . Andrew's costume was awesome. He fits right in the movie, doesn't he? Happy Halloween!!
Today is Clayton's birthday! Our little man is a big three-year-old. We will be celebrating his birthday next week. Tonight we dressed up in the costumes we've been working on for months- here we are!
Brian is Obi Wan Kenobi. And he is taking his Jedi training seriously. And I'm proud to say I made his costume! A bunch of odds and ends from garage sales, some time on the sewing machine, and ta-da! Natalee, thanks a million for helping me with the sewing!!Clayton's costume is also from a garage sale; ready-made though. And it looks like Yoda and Obi Wan are duking it out.Dory is an Ewok, and so cute I could scream.I bought this bear costume at a garage sale, and gave it an overhaul. And all the money we saved on the kids' costumes, we put into buying Mommy and Daddy's costumes on Ebay. We had a lot of fun putting these together. This is about as good a picture as we'll get of the 5 of us . . . especially using the timer on the camera. We'll have to try to get another picture tomorrow.
Have a good weekend! And may the force be with you.
Last night it started snowing- which I don't think would be a big deal if it wasn't accompanied by 40 mph wind. So, Andrew is home from work, and school was canceled! So we decided to have some fun in the snow.
Clayton got up first, and was eager to check out the snow on our little patio. This cracked me up. Brian got up, and definitely wanted to play in the snow. I asked him to go get clothes, and he came up with these shorts. Let's try again, Brian. Clayton the heart-breaker. Here are a couple videos of the boys sledding with Daddy. They absolutely LOVED it. Even after he face-planted in the snow, Clayton did not want to come in the house. In the first video, you can hear Clayton laughing (and the wind blowing). In the second video, I'm standing in our garage taping the boys sledding down the driveway.
This week is Red Ribbon week, and today is Hat Day. So here are the boys in their hats. Clayton has a Lightning McQueen hat: Brian was totally opposed to wearing ANY hat this morning. He didn't quite understand that just for today, it's okay to wear a hat to school (and Brian is a stickler for the rules). But when I offered him the option to wear one of Daddy's pilot hats, that was A-okay! Here is one airman who is happy about the new PT rules.
The Flying Monks are Andrew, Lisa, Brian (4), Clayton (3), and Dory (8 months). We are enjoying life in the Air Force.
The latest Funnies:
*While waiting for the school bus, Brian saw the sleds in the garage and said he wanted to go sledding again. I said we would have to wait til it snowed again, because there is no snow on the ground. He looked around and thought for a second, and said "Let's go buy some at the store!".
*At church, three kids (about age 10) played a cello, violin and piano trio musical number. Brian looked at them and said "It's the Little Einsteins!".
*One of Brian's favorite stories is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. His favorite part is when the caterpillar eats all the different foods at once and gets a stomachache. The other day at that part of the story he said "The caterpillar has a smelly-cake!".
*After some heavy rain, there were massive puddles in the roads. We drove through one and sent waves of water over the car- and Brian told us "The car is taking a bath!".
*I guess we have taught Brian the importance of positive reinforcement. He now tells us "Good job!" after we do something for him, and tells us when to tell HIM "Good job Brian!".
