We celebrated by going to a church breakfast early Saturday morning, taking a nap Saturday afternoon, having a barbecue with our friends the evening, and then trekking off to the other side of town for a supposed fireworks display. After parking with a thousand other people, literally on the side of the freeway, we placed bets for an hour on if THIS was finally the show, or just more illegal fireworks. Finally around 10pm, and seeing the hoards leaving, we figured it was either canceled, or this was it:
Turns out the display was canceled for a little wind and some scattered high clouds. So, we made our own fireworks show in the car on the way home . . . so to speak.

Sorry the fireworks display was a bust...sounds like everyone had a fun day anyway. The kids look so cute in their red white and blue.
Lisa, too bad your fireworks show got cancelled. But I love the photo of your B-1 baby! She beats any beautiful display of any firework in the world. Annette wants to go to another airshow. We are planning some short trips to see some sites and have some fun while we still can enjoy them. I heard Amanda and her family went to Rushmore. That will be fun too.
Gary called and told me. Our kids were totally bummed. I felt especially guilty since I was at the Del Mar Fair waiting for an especially fantastic fireworks display. It did not disappoint.
Dori does look like an unmasked Darth Vader except for the cuteness factor. She is just way too cute.
Hearing the Byrds sing that song brings back some memories.
I think this is the first year that our fireworks were NOT delayed by rain/wind/unsafe conditions - but I LOVE your digital fireworks display.
And does this mean Dory is actually Luke's mom - the timeline has me completely confused.
